Make-Up Must Have | Holy-Grail Products

May 20, 2016
Today I would introduce you guys to my make-up essentials. These are the products that I truly love and use the most. Without doubt,  I would pick and take these guys along to travel with me all the time.

Lorac Pro Palette

I dare to say this is the best palette I've ever purchased. The shades in this palette are very versatile, no wonder it is one of the best-seller palettes and I think every make-up junker should own one. Their quality also speaks, they are pigmented, creamy, and very buttery. I seriously think that you can create hundreds of eye looks with this palette alone.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit

This powder literally makes my face looks flawless. It hides my pores and make my face lit from within with air-brushed look. You have to try yourself to believe it!

Shiseido Lash Curler

One of the best lash curler for Asian eyes with the perfect curve. I have straight down lashes and even best mascaras wouldn't work if I do not curl my lashes.

Loreal False Lash Superstar

It has dual sides: Fibre and Mascara. The fibre lengthens and the mascara volumizes. I love my jet-black, long and fat lashes to complete my look.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Brink

This natural nude colour couldn't go wrong with any looks. Also, the creamy texture helps to moisturise my lips.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard

I'm very picky with concealer, but this concealer impresses me. It hides my imperfections such as acnes, dark circles so well. Also, it doesn't crease and break me out.

MAC PaintPot in Soft Ochre

I use this as eye base, it makes my eye make-up super long-lasting but also provides some colour corrections for my eyelids.

Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder

This powder sets my face make-up in place, also eliminates and controls oil on T-zone areas. It looks natural and not cakey. The HD feature will make my make-up looks good in camera.

Dolly Wink Eye Liner in Black

A big fan of this Japanese brand eye-liner. It is super affordable, yet smudge-proof, waterproof with its thin tip to have the perfect feline wings.

Benefit Posie Tint

Love to use this as cheek colour. Its soft baby pink colour provides a natural flush. Also it's a very easy product to use, just required a finger or two to blend.

Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Ebony

It is very versatile, it can create looks from natural looking brows to strong Instagram brows. Also, it can be used as cream eye-liner.

Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Foundation in Shade 4

This is my all time favourite foundation. It provides medium to full coverage, looks like skin, feels light, and hides pores. It is seriously amazing, the only complain is the price tag.

TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer

Up for those Victoria Secret glowy skin? Just pop this baby on cheek bones, cupid bow, and nose bridge. Also, apply some on the inner eye areas to pop our eyes open.

Top 3 Lipstick for Everyday Use

May 19, 2016
Lipsticks are one of my favourite make-up items to purchase in all time. I own like almost 30 lipsticks in my entire make-up collection, and I know that I do not need them all, some I even regretted purchasing. For everyday use, I prefer the lipsticks that are comfortable and easy to wear, moisturise my lips, and long-lasting with natural shades.

Shiseido Perfect Rouge in RD 142

This lipstick is super smooth, moisturising, easy to apply, and the colour is just gorgeous. I love this warm rosy pink with brownish undertone colour, not too overwhelming and perfect for any day. The black metal packaging is very sleek and elegant looking. Normally I'd pair a simple eye make-up with this lipstick for simple and pretty day look.

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Glaze (Glossy) and Haze (Matte)

I am a big fan of Tarte LipSurgence ever since I tried it. It is super creamy in both matte and glossy formula. The matte is not drying and definitely feel comfortable on lip. Both finish has minty and soothing sensation on lips that lasts for around 15 minutes after application which I love. Also, the application on lips is easy and fast thanks to the jumbo and wide surface that could be twist up and down. The cute and fun packaging also wins my heart.

Haze is the perfect nude colour I would go for whenever I wear minimal make-up to no make-up. I also sometimes would reach out on Haze when I wear smoky eyes to balance out my look.

Glaze is a medium reddish brownish nude. This colour is great for fall and very pretty with some soft rose-gold tone eye make-up look.

Haze (Matte)

Glaze (Glossy)

Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Gourmandise M71

This is the priciest and most luxurious lip product I ever own. You can see from the packaging that it is a very special product, the product feels heavy in aluminium with a mirror popping up when the clasp is twisted open. This liquid lip product is in velvety matte finish. It is not drying on lips with its smooth and silky texture. The staying power is great, it lasts for 6 hours on me while I eat and drink and does not even fade and crease on the inner lips like the other liquid lipstick does. Also the application tip is quite precise, making it very easy to apply a neat layer on lips. The colour Gourmandise is a very wearable true and bright pink which is very flattering on lips, it brightens up my complexion and I often get compliment on it. For girls who has the budget and wants to invest a luxury product, this one is a must!

KIEHL'S Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque | Review and First Impression

May 18, 2016
Kiehl's released 2 new facial masks earlier in March this year. One is the Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energising Radiance Mask, another is Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque. Kiehl's is known for their generous sample, they always distribute sample whenever I purchase something, this time they gave me 2 packets of the Turmeric mask to try out.

This mask is formulated with turmeric to even our complexion and crushed cranberry seed for gentle exfoliation. It claims to 'instantly' brighten and energize our dull and fatigue skin, also to restore healthy and rosy complexion. That sounds pretty amazing to me! Honestly talking, I really do feel that my skin has somehow lost its vibrance and radiance little by little without me noticing until I looked back to my old picture. Anyone experiencing the same issue as me, or is it just me?

HOW TO USE: Apply generously all over face, and let it sit for around 10-15 minutes to dry. After fully dried, add a bit of water to palm and massage the cranberry seed to gently exfoliate our dead skin and rinse it off.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the pack is that it smells so good like orange milkshake. The texture is so creamy and smooth, making it easy to apply on skin.  Just after 1 minute of application, I could feel that it is super refreshing and does tingle tad bit due to menthol in one of the ingredients. After around 5 minutes, I feel that the mask became quite tight, let's see whether it'll firm my skin. The whole mask on my face only took 10 minutes to be fully dry. Also, the crushed cranberry seeds are gentle enough to exfoliate my sensitive skin without leaving redness or irritation.

dry after 10 minutes

After I washed this mask, I could see that my overall complexion becomes more even, more luminous and glowing. Also, my skin feels firmer and I really love the result as it really does what it claims. I think this mask could benefit all skin type from dry to combination even acne-prone skin like mine because it doesn't dry the skin or cause break out. This mask also would be extra useful for special occasion such as parties, proms or whenever our skin needs that extra 'umph' to look glowing and the best thing is that it only takes 10 minutes or so.

My rating for KIEHL'S Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque is 8.5/10 and I definitely would purchase this mask to make my skin all glowing and bright.

Have you used this mask before and how is it on your skin? Please comment below so everybody can share their experiences. Also don't be shy to mention any products you guys want me to review.

Thanks for reading and I hope you find it hopeful! Nice day to all of you :)

Night Skincare Routine for Sensitive, Acne-Prone Skin | Affordable Products

May 11, 2016
I am a skincare-obsessed person, I literally have tried thousands of brands and products to maintain my complexion to be as flawless as possible. My skin is not exactly the most well-behaved skin type. It is combination, sensitive, and acne-prone skin and the worst is I don't see troubles (breakouts) coming every time. I just pops up whenever it feels like it. I had times when my skin was just so awfully full of acnes, scars, and redness. And at those difficult moment, my confidence would shrink like a balloon just being pierced. PHEW!:(

I believe that our skin are like plants and flowers, which need to be nourished and taken care of. Flawless (although mine is not) skin takes time and effort. Some people might be luckier than others being born with good gene skin but throughout time, effort really counts and makes major difference in the long term.

STEP ONE is CLEANSE

Cleansing our face is very important. It removes the dirt, oil, germs, greasiness on our skin that might cause acnes, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, any impurities basically. I usually wash my face 2-3 times a day depending on my activities and schedules. The MUST is to wash our face in the morning and at night.

On make-up free day, I would use my Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water with cotton pad, gently swipe my whole face to remove the oil on the upper layer of my face. It consists of rose petals to gently clean and moisturise skin at the same time.

smells like rose and super gentle on skin.

If I wear make up, it would require an extra step to remove the make up that I wear whole day long. I  use Innisfree Bija Trouble Cleansing Gel to melt away all the face make up.  It is similar with cleansing oil, gently massage face for 2-3 minutes, then add some water to emulsify the gel and rinse face. I prefer gel texture more than oil because most cleansing oil does break my skin out while this doesn't. Currently using my 4th bottle now and doesn't plan to switch to other make-up remover in any mean time.

For eyes, I would use my Johnson Baby Oil in Aloe Vera. Baby oil is so affordable and just as effective as any eye make-up remover. So I don't see why not? Pour some in cotton pad, press gently and wait for 1- 2 minutes, wipe gently and there you go. As simple as that.

good for removing eyes and lips make-up.

After removing make-up, we still need to wash our face with face wash. Because chance is our face is still not fully clean and that might cause break out. At night I usually use my GlamGlow Supercleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser, a mud to foam cleanser that effectively dissolves oil, dirt, even light make-up. Although it is expensive, but this huge bottle has lasted for around 6-7 months on me. Spread the mud (around 2 pumps) to whole face with dry palms, massage it for around 1 minute, then add more water until it turns to foam, massage gently for 3-5 minutes, and rinse. I love to use this cleanser at night time, it's so relaxing and I think my skin loves it too!

STEP TWO is TONE

Toner is absolutely needed for oily skin, it will help to cleanse our deeper layer of skin so all products we apply next could be absorbed better. My holy grail toner is KIELHS Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion. This is my absolute favourite and I could not LIVE without this stuff. There are times I ran out of it and I didn't use it for like 2 weeks. My face started to break out gradually from my forehead to chin to cheek. And I was wondering for awhile what caused the break out to happen. And I sunddely realised that it was this toner. My break out stopped immediately after I continued to use it. This toner is written and recommended by KIELHS ' staffs only for oily skin. But let me tell u, it works wonder for my combination and acne-prone skin. I am on my 10th bottles now and that's enough to prove how good it is.

mini size for travelling

STEP THREE is REPAIR

Our cells repair our skin more effectively when we sleep, therefore any skincare products to improve evenness, tone, and texture are mostly recommended to be used at night. I see a major improvement on my skin since after I use Renew Rose Hip Oil, an organic skincare from Australia. My acne scars are gradually going away after one month usage! And my skin becomes so soft and smooth because it also repairs damaged skin cell. Although it is oil base, it doesn't break me out at all. I also have tried it on my boyfie's skin and he stopped getting new pimples since then. But for you who are interested better get prepared for the funny and heavy smell, you'll get use to it.

STEP FOUR is MOISTURISE

Any type of skin, including oily skin needs moisture to hydrate the skin to be plumped, supple, and youthful. Dehydrated skin (flaky, dry, redness, and peeled) is NOT SEXY! Another purpose of moisturiser is to lock all the serums or oils we have used earlier so they can be absorbed into deeper skin layer. Two of my favourite moisturisers of all time are Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel and KIELHS' ULTRA FACIAL MOISTURISER. I would use the Clinique one when my skin is on the oilier condition because it is gel type, and KIELHS when it is on the drier side.

squalene to moisturise our skin

STEP 5 is TREATMENT

By treatment, what I mean is eyes and acnes. I like to put these two the last. I guess because they are the littlest amount we use compared to whole-face products. My holy-grail acne treatment cream is Neutrogena On-The-Spot Treatment, I have used this Benzoyl Peroxide treatment cream for 5 years. And I never could find anything like it. It's so gentle on my skin, doesn't make my skin dry or flaky or red the next morning. Usually after 2 -3 days of applications, my acnes will shrink. It is truly a very impressive + affordable product!

my fave acne cream!

My eyes has light dark circles, nothing's major but still quite concerning. I am using Skin-Peptoxyl Intelligent Dark Circle Eraser, which contains Algae, Rosemary, Green Tea to reduce dark circles around eye areas and also to boost collagen production. What I like about it is the lightweight and non-sticky texture, making it ideal to be used day and night.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip, Ultra Satin Lip and Lippie Stix | Review and Swatches

May 08, 2016
2015 was certainly the strong year for liquid lipstick, countless liquid lipsticks popped out on the market. Colourpop released their liquid lip product aka Ultra Matte Lips around early 2015 and it was a huge success. It has the most reviews and raves on youtube. I mean, look at the price and the product. It's just so affordable (USD 6) and seems to be amazing. But too bad they do not ship internationally. Meaning for girls who live outside US, you guys would have to go through some hassle either to order it from online shop or order it through some shipping agent. I am one of those girls, SIGH! I waited a few months hoping that Colourpop might send international after they go big. Indeed they added some international destinations but only to Australia and New Zealand. Now how is that fair Colourpop?! (hope someone from Colourpop READ this)

One day, I just feel that I really have to get my hand on it and have waited enough. After carefully chosen the colour by watching swatches on the internet, finally ordered 5 of their lip products from local online shop. Waited another 5 weeks to get it. These lip products better be worth my time and money!

Ultra Matte Lip in Bumble and Avenue

Bumble is dusty warm terracotta colour, one of the most popular colour.
Avenue is deep red with yellow undertone.

Up to down: Avenue, Bumble

Up to Down: Bumble, Avenue

Avenue

Bumble

My favourite is definitely Bumble because this kind of rosy warm colour is wearable for everyday, not too pinkish yet not too brown. The formulation is nice: glides smoothly on lips, very pigmented, long-lasting, doesn't crease, and transfer-proof. Although it may be too dry for some people, it is still okay for me, not up to the point that it makes my lips crack or peel. But it does feel like there is a layer on my lips.

For dark colours like Avenue, there is a bit of uneven, guess it needs to be applied faster to avoid uneven colours. Both colours do emphasise the lines on lips. Tips is to exfoliate lips before application. And to remove it, you need oil-base remover. If u are girls who are into matte, long-lasting colours, and budget-friendly products, I'd really recommend the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip.

Ultra Satin Lip in Frick n Frack

Frick n Frack is rosy terracotta, very similar to Bumble but warmer and darker with brown undertone.

Ultra Satin Lip - Frick and Frack

Frick and Frack

Frick n Frack

The formula of Ultra Satin Lip is very similar with the Ultra Matte Lip, only more comfortable satin finish, not as drying, long-lasting and transfer-proof. Ultra Satin Lip comes with wide range gorgeous shades. I really like Echo Park and Frick n Frack, but unfortunately Echo Park was sold out back then. Ultra Satin Lip is great to use when our lips are not in such good condition such as dry, chapped because it will not worsen it or make it look bad. And also it is so much easier to apply because it doesn't dry as fast and will not create uneven texture. For girls who do not like Ultra Matte Lips, try the Ultra Satin, it might be your next best friend!

Lippie Stix in Brink and Rayezor

Brink is warm dusty taupe colour in matte
Rayezor is warm peachy nude colour in matte

L to R: Brink, Rayezor

couldn't clean with water, need make up remover

Brink VS Rayezor

I am so surprised that these two look very similar when I swatched them. Their colours on their packaging surely don't look alike at all. Brink is more rosy undertone and Rayezor is more to peachy undertone. I can see difference at my swatches that brink has tiny tad more brownish pink colour than Rayezor if I bulge my eyes out, but I do not think that people will notice that very slight difference on our lips.

Nonetheless, I really like the formulation of the matte lippie stix. They are super creamy, smooth and easy to apply especially with the slanted shape. The matte is more like creamy matte, less matte compared to Nars Velvet Lip Pencil or Tarte Lipsurgence Matte Liptint therefore it's easy to fix during messy application.

I really like Colourpop. It delivers and is affordable, and they have amazing shades of lip and eye products to choose from. I look forward to try more of their products.
