Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip, Ultra Satin Lip and Lippie Stix | Review and Swatches

May 08, 2016
2015 was certainly the strong year for liquid lipstick, countless liquid lipsticks popped out on the market. Colourpop released their liquid lip product aka Ultra Matte Lips around early 2015 and it was a huge success. It has the most reviews and raves on youtube. I mean, look at the price and the product. It's just so affordable (USD 6) and seems to be amazing. But too bad they do not ship internationally. Meaning for girls who live outside US, you guys would have to go through some hassle either to order it from online shop or order it through some shipping agent. I am one of those girls, SIGH! I waited a few months hoping that Colourpop might send international after they go big. Indeed they added some international destinations but only to Australia and New Zealand. Now how is that fair Colourpop?! (hope someone from Colourpop READ this)

One day, I just feel that I really have to get my hand on it and have waited enough. After carefully chosen the colour by watching swatches on the internet, finally ordered 5 of their lip products from local online shop. Waited another 5 weeks to get it. These lip products better be worth my time and money!

Ultra Matte Lip in Bumble and Avenue

Bumble is dusty warm terracotta colour, one of the most popular colour.
Avenue is deep red with yellow undertone.

Up to down: Avenue, Bumble

Up to Down: Bumble, Avenue

Avenue

Bumble

My favourite is definitely Bumble because this kind of rosy warm colour is wearable for everyday, not too pinkish yet not too brown. The formulation is nice: glides smoothly on lips, very pigmented, long-lasting, doesn't crease, and transfer-proof. Although it may be too dry for some people, it is still okay for me, not up to the point that it makes my lips crack or peel. But it does feel like there is a layer on my lips.

For dark colours like Avenue, there is a bit of uneven, guess it needs to be applied faster to avoid uneven colours. Both colours do emphasise the lines on lips. Tips is to exfoliate lips before application. And to remove it, you need oil-base remover. If u are girls who are into matte, long-lasting colours, and budget-friendly products, I'd really recommend the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip.

Ultra Satin Lip in Frick n Frack

Frick n Frack is rosy terracotta, very similar to Bumble but warmer and darker with brown undertone.

Ultra Satin Lip - Frick and Frack

Frick and Frack

Frick n Frack

The formula of Ultra Satin Lip is very similar with the Ultra Matte Lip, only more comfortable satin finish, not as drying, long-lasting and transfer-proof. Ultra Satin Lip comes with wide range gorgeous shades. I really like Echo Park and Frick n Frack, but unfortunately Echo Park was sold out back then. Ultra Satin Lip is great to use when our lips are not in such good condition such as dry, chapped because it will not worsen it or make it look bad. And also it is so much easier to apply because it doesn't dry as fast and will not create uneven texture. For girls who do not like Ultra Matte Lips, try the Ultra Satin, it might be your next best friend!

Lippie Stix in Brink and Rayezor

Brink is warm dusty taupe colour in matte
Rayezor is warm peachy nude colour in matte

L to R: Brink, Rayezor

couldn't clean with water, need make up remover

Brink VS Rayezor

I am so surprised that these two look very similar when I swatched them. Their colours on their packaging surely don't look alike at all. Brink is more rosy undertone and Rayezor is more to peachy undertone. I can see difference at my swatches that brink has tiny tad more brownish pink colour than Rayezor if I bulge my eyes out, but I do not think that people will notice that very slight difference on our lips.

Nonetheless, I really like the formulation of the matte lippie stix. They are super creamy, smooth and easy to apply especially with the slanted shape. The matte is more like creamy matte, less matte compared to Nars Velvet Lip Pencil or Tarte Lipsurgence Matte Liptint therefore it's easy to fix during messy application.

I really like Colourpop. It delivers and is affordable, and they have amazing shades of lip and eye products to choose from. I look forward to try more of their products.
